Pentagon Technologies Group Inc. is investing $50 million in a new semiconductor equipment cleaning facility in Mesa that is expected to create 300 new jobs.
Hayward, California-based Pentagon Technologies announced Thursday that construction is underway on the 65,500-square-foot space, which will be the company’s largest precision cleaning facility with “cutting-edge technologies."
The facility will be located in View 202, a phased industrial development near Ray and Ellsworth roads in southeast Mesa, city officials confirmed to the Business Journal.
The facility is expected to be operational in the fourth quarter, according to a company announcement.
“We are thrilled to partner with the City of Mesa in building a cutting-edge facility to support the growth of semiconductor fabs in Arizona. Our facility will have the capability to provide precision cleaning to industry leaders on the most advanced semiconductor tools in the industry,” Dave Christeson, CEO of Pentagon, said in a statement. “We are excited to provide so many new jobs in such an exciting industry to people in the Mesa area.”
Pentagon Technologies was not immediately available for further comment on the facility.
Pentagon a subsidiary of Japanese company Kurita Water
Pentagon Technologies is a subsidiary of Kurita Water Industries, a Japanese materials supplier of advanced chamber cleaning equipment for semiconductor foundries. The company provides contamination detection and protection consumables to the semiconductor and microelectronics industries. It operates facilities in Arizona, California, New York, Oregon, Texas, Israel, Ireland and Japan.
“The new Arizona facility is Kurita’s latest and largest strategic investment in the precision cleaning business in recent years,” Shingo Yamaga, Pentagon’s board chair, said in a statement. “We are very honored to be able to make a significant contribution to our customers in the semiconductor industry and the local community through this new facility. We also believe that this investment is extremely important as Kurita expands its foundation to provide high-quality one-stop services to the world’s top customers in the semiconductor industry wherever and whenever they need.”
The Business Journal reported last year that Pentagon Technologies leased space in a 100,000-square-foot building in View 202, which San Diego-based Sunbelt Investment Holdings is building on 46 acres near Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. Sunbelt has completed the first phase of the development, which included two buildings.
In addition to Pentagon Technologies, tenants in the first phase of the park include Dose Moving & Storage and Safelite Auto Glass, according to SIHI's website.
The second phase will bring on three more buildings that total 155,300, 112,270 and 112,270 square feet, respectively, the Business Journal previously reported.
When complete, View 202 will consist of more than 600,000 square feet of Class A industrial space.
Cushman & Wakefield's brokerage team of Mike Haenel, Andy Markham and Phil Haenel are the listing brokers for View 202. Butler Design Group is listed as the architect for phase two of the View 202 park, according to documents submitted to the city of Mesa.
“Mesa has an important role to play in high-tech manufacturing and the semiconductor supply chain, and as part of that, we’re pleased to welcome Pentagon Technologies’ new facility,” John Giles, mayor of Mesa, said in a statement. “This is a substantial capital investment in our community that signifies the creation of hundreds of new jobs and further solidifies Mesa’s position as a hub for innovation and economic growth.”
