Luxury developer unveils north Scottsdale community with $2M+ homes
Scottsdale-based Sonora West Development, which has completed nearly $2 billion in luxury projects, is unveiling its newest community in north Scottsdale, where home prices start at $2.5 million.
Scott Pfeiffer, who started his career as a framer in college before founding Sonora West Development in 2000, said he's nearly finished with two model homes for Serene, a community of 21 semi-custom homes near Dynamite and Alma School roads.
The developer broke ground in May on Serene and now is preparing to unveil the project. It features four floor plans ranging between 2,825 and 3,730 square feet on lots ranging between 12,000 to 18,000 square feet.
An invite-only VIP preview of part of Serene is set for Dec. 12, followed by a grand opening party in 2025.
"Serene is more of a high-end, lock-and-leave, zero-maintenance deal," Pfeiffer said.
Of the 21 homes in Serene, three homes have sold even before the models are open, he said.
Nestled under Pinnacle Peak, just north of Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale, Serene offers contemporary, modern design, he said.
He said he's motivated by design from other coastal states.
Swaback Architects is architect for the contemporary homes, while Est Est Inc. is providing interior design. Mike Domer, an associate broker at Launch Powered by Compass and a partner in the project, is handling all sales for the community.
Sonora West Development has invested about $10 million to improve the land and prepare for development since acquiring the 10-acre parcel two years ago.
As he prepares to unveil Serene, Pfeiffer has his eye on other projects.
That includes 31 custom lots near Pima Road and Stagecoach Pass in Carefree, which will feature homes ranging between 4,000 and 6,000 square feet starting in the $3 million range, he said.
They will include guest house and RV garage options.
"We have close to a quarter billion dollars of product we're putting on the market soon," he said.
