Desert Diamond Casino White Tanks to debut in December
The much-anticipated Desert Diamond Casino White Tanks venue has set a December opening date.
The Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise (TOGE) will hold its opening event on Dec. 18, featuring activities throughout the day to celebrate its fifth casino, located near Loop 303 and Northern Parkway, west of Glendale.
The addition of the new casino is anticipated to spur economic growth for the West Valley and the Tohono O’odham Nation, said Mike Bean, the CEO of TOGE.
“We look forward to creating positive new opportunities for the Tohono O’odham Nation, the West Valley, and Arizona,” Bean said in a statement.
Construction began in April 2023 on the $450 million, state-of-the-art casino — the exterior of which evokes a desert butterfly represented in the porte cochere, according to a release. JCJ Architecture led the design of the new facility and Hunt-Penta Joint Venture served as the general contractor. More than 5,500 construction jobs were created over the past 19 months related to the project.
The casino will feature a 184,000 square-foot casino floor, including 900 Class III slot machines, poker room and retail sportsbook. Also included are table games such as blackjack, roulette and baccarat.
Additionally, there will be a Starbucks and the high-end restaurant Morton’s The Steakhouse — the only one housed in a Valley casino.
It is estimated that Desert Diamond Casino White Tanks will create more than 1,000 new jobs when it opens.
The casino will eventually expand across the 80-acre site to include a hotel, conference center, an outdoor pool and recreational amenities, and an amphitheater and event lawn space.
“Completion of the facility would not have been possible without the leadership of the Tohono O’odham Nation, the support of our amazing team members and the efforts of the thousands of construction professionals on the project,” said Jacob Moore, the chairman of the TOGE board in a statement.
Desert Diamond Casino & Entertainment has three other locations in southern Arizona (Tucson, Sahuarita, and Why) and another in the West Valley at 9431 W Northern Ave. in Glendale.
Final Thoughts:
The opening of the Desert Diamond Casino White Tanks this December marks a major milestone for the West Valley and the Tohono O’odham Nation. With its state-of-the-art design, upscale dining, and vast entertainment options, this casino is set to become a prime destination for both locals and visitors. Beyond entertainment, the project will fuel economic growth by creating thousands of jobs and positioning the West Valley as a dynamic hub for tourism and business. Whether you’re a gaming enthusiast or simply curious about Arizona’s newest landmark, the Desert Diamond Casino White Tanks is a place to watch.
