Metro Phoenix welcomed over two dozen new restaurants in September. Fitting for the official start of the fall season, coffee shops and cozy bakeries dominated the scene, from Vietnamese coffee to neighborhood cafes to a new semi-permanent coffee cart at ASU.


One of the most anticipated new openings was the long-awaited comeback of
The Larder & The Delta, which is now open as a fine dining restaurant in Phoenix. Other exciting openings included a board game cafe? in Chandler, an upscale champagne lounge in Peoria and a Native American frybread restaurant in Old Town Scottsdale.


Here are 26 new restaurants that opened recently in metro Phoenix.

The Audrey Bistro

The Audrey Bistro is a new upscale, French-inspired champagne lounge in Peoria offering over 20 wines and champagnes by the glass or bottle, plus several cocktails and mocktails. Food options include paninis, crepes, charcuterie boards, bruschetta and shareable plates like hummus and pita and French onion meatballs.

Backyard

The second Arizona location of Backyard, an indoor/outdoor bar and restaurant featuring plenty of interactive games and TVs, is now open in Gilbert. The menu includes pizzas, street tacos, burgers, sandwiches and mains including chicken and waffles, chicken pot pie and homestyle meatloaf. The large drinks menu includes beer towers and buckets, frozen cocktails, specialty cocktails and unique shots.

Better Buzz Coffee

San Diego-based Better Buzz Coffee, which made its Arizona debut in Phoenix earlier this year, opened its second Valley location in Tempe, offering handcrafted coffees including the signature Best Drink Ever americano with creamy vanilla, Moroccan spice iced coffee and mint infused iced coffee. They also offer toasts, bowls and sandwiches.

Caya Coffee

Caya Coffee, a local coffee cart that has grown a following popping up at churches and businesses around metro Phoenix, held a grand opening in September for its new permanent popup spot at ASU. Their namesake signature drink The Caya Coffee is made with ube syrup, Spanish espresso and Lechera drizzle.

Central Bean Cafe

Central Bean Cafe is a new family-owned Filipino bakery and cafe in Phoenix. The star menu item is croffles, or croissant waffles, which come topped with fruits and chocolate or caramel drizzles. There are also plenty of coffees, teas and lunch sandwiches.

Eggstasy

Eggstasy's latest location is now open at The Colony in uptown Phoenix. The brunch restaurant offers a plethora of egg dishes, like steak and eggs, omelets, skillets and egg-topped sandwiches. Other menu items include crepes, French toast, pancakes and waffles.

Flower Child

The newest location of Flower Child from Fox Restaurant Concepts is now open at the redeveloped Paradise Valley mall site. Flower Child offers custom meals with one protein and two sides such as gluten-free mac and cheese, smashed gold potato or cauliflower risotto.

The Frybread Lounge

The Frybread Lounge is a new Indigenous-owned restaurant in Old Town Scottsdale serving frybread tacos, bison asada tacos, bison ribeye and a rez charcuterie board with the chef's choice of Indigenous meats, salami, pickled onions and jams.

The Guadalupe on Main

The Guadalupe on Main is a new Southwestern restaurant in Mesa in the former Casa Ramos Redux space, offering Jalisco-style dishes like fajitas, mole enchiladas and street corn dip. Drinks options include craft cocktails including a "dealer's choice" for which the bartender creates a drink to match the guest's preferences.

Indian Curry Bowls

Indian Curry Bowls is a new restaurant in Goodyear that offers recipes from North and South India, with items such as masalas, biryanis, curry, dosas, naan and a few Indo-Chinese dishes.

The Italiano

The Italiano, the latest concept from The Maggiore Group, is now open in Scottsdale. Menu highlights include seafood towers, Neapolitan pizzas, prime steak, chicken parmesan, stuffed eggplant and gnocchi and 15-layer lasagna. There are also over a dozen cocktails including a classic negroni and an espresso martini.

Krazy Cajun Seafood & Hibachi

Phoenix restaurant Krazy Cajun Seafood & Hibachi opened its second location in Tempe, offering customizable seafood boils and baskets plus hibachi entrees, yakisoba and fried rice dishes.

The Larder & The Delta

Award-winning chef Stephen Jones has reopened his restaurant The Larder + The Delta, which closed last year, with a slightly new name. The reimagined restaurant takes over the former Binkley's space and offers one seating per night for a 12-course fine dining experience inspired by the Southern recipes he grew up eating.

Little Ray's Pizzeria

Little Ray's is a new family-owned pizzeria in Glendale. They offer New York style pizzas including pizza by the slice, plus calzones, hoagies, pastas and Italian-inspired appetizers like meatballs and garlic bread.

Lunch n Munch

Lunch n Munch is a new brunch cafe and bakery in Mesa. Menu offerings include hot and cold sandwiches, cookies, muffins, parfaits, quiches and other homemade baked goods from the bakery case.

Mother Tucker's Tavern

Mother Tucker's Tavern, from the groups behind Bottled Blonde and The Porch, held a grand opening celebration in Old Town Scottsdale in September. Menu highlights include a tavern burger, banh mi hot dog, fried chicken cutlet bowl and beer battered pickled onion rings. There is an enormous drinks menu including cocktails, draft beers and shots.

Mox Boarding House

Mox Boarding House, a Seattle-based board game cafe?, has finally made its Arizona debut in Chandler. The store sells hundreds of unique and rare board and card games, and invites guests to bring their own to play as they eat and hang out. The restaurant serves tavern-style food including its signature mac and cheese and other shareable dishes that can be eaten while playing games. There are plenty of gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan and vegetarian options.

Paris Banh Mi

A new location of Paris Banh Mi is now open in Chandler. The menu includes multiple Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches, plus croissants, burgers, pastries and plenty of teas.

Puer Taiwan Tea & Coffee

Puer Taiwan Tea & Coffee is now open in Glendale, serving a large menu of bubble teas and Vietnamese coffees plus banh mi sandwiches, noodle bowls and desserts.

Renegade Coffee

Renegade Coffee held a grand opening celebration in September for its third location, which is now open in Phoenix. In addition to the coffee, Renegade offers its own specialty energy drinks and smoothies. The food menu includes breakfast burritos, avocado toast, breakfast sandwiches, hot soups, paninis and baked goods.

Sampurna

A new family-owned Indian restaurant, Sampurna, is open in Chandler. It offers a lunch buffet every day from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. House specialties include gobi or chicken manchurian, chicken tikka, tandoori chicken, goat curry and chili paneer.

Smash Grill

Smash Grill is a new fully Kosher restaurant in Phoenix serving burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, platters and appetizers like a blooming onion, pastrami egg rolls, chicken wings and loaded barbecue beef fries.

Spitz Mediterranean Street Food

Spitz Mediterranean Street Food opened its newest location in Chandler. Menu highlights include doner wraps, loaded fries, doquitos and gyros. They also offer takeout beer, wine, cocktails and sangria.

The Stillery

Nashville-based country bar and restaurant The Stillery has opened its third Arizona location in Goodyear. They offer brick-oven pizzas, burgers and mason jar cocktails, plus brunch service from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekends. There is also live music every single night.

Taste of Philly

Colorado-based sandwich delivery service Taste of Philly made its Arizona debut at the Tempe Food Court. They offer Philly cheesesteaks, sandwiches and chicken wings for delivery or takeout.

Top One Hot Pot & Asian Cuisine

A new Asian hot pot restaurant is now open in Mesa. Besides hot pots, the restaurant offers Korean barbecue items, dumplings, bao, noodle and rice dishes and Americanized Chinese wok entrees.
